Turnpike Field Public Footpath closed

As a result of the reported damage to the wooden bridge where the Turnpike Field public footpath crosses the River Weaver at Grey's Bridge, Cheshire East have formally closed the footpath from the stile entrance at lock 11.

According to CE's Notice, the footpath will be closed for up to 21 days during which period the bridge will hopefully be repaired.Obviously the absence of the bridge means that access to the footpath is inaccessible at Green Lane as well.

Until the footpath is officially declared open by CE, access in and out of the field is only possible using the Shropshire Street entrance. We advise that due care is taken walking the field during this closure and that the closed area of the footpath is avoided.
