ADAPT Saturday market. Saturday 2nd August Lord Combermere Carpark.

Just like Arnie Schwartzenegger we have come back home to the Lord Combermere Car Park for our ADAPT market, with grateful thanks to Rachel and Cameron.

To continue with the garden pest theme of recent weeks, a couple of years ago we had to stop planting leeks, garlic and onions in the garden because of an invasion of Leek moths which are an uncommon species residing in the South of the country. Global warming has enticed it further north. Evidence of the pest is seen from holes produced on the stems of the plants. We thought it had now passed us by. No, an adult moth was captured yesterday and identified. They have 2 generations a year, so its something to look out for in your gardens and the only prevention measure is fine mesh protection.

On the market this week will be runner beans, tomatoes, lettuce, new potatoes, all organically grown without any artificial feed, fungicides or pesticides. Smaller crops but is more healthy and tastes better.

This is the same for all the garden produce we have on the market.

We have free range eggs, honey, marmalades, jams, apple juice, eating apples ( Worcester Permains) Other than that, we have a selection of garden plants, Lemon drizzle cake and more tea loaves, as it's a family favourite and a trip down memory lane too, as it's the recipe one of the ADAPT member's grandmother used to make. We will try to have copies of the recipe available on Saturday.

10am till noon at our new location The Lord Combermere Car Park.
