Town Hall Refurbishment Project

Under way at last

This week, work has started on the second phase of a major refurbishment of the Town Hall. Over the next two months, the Hall will be closed while our contractors carry out major works.

The work is being carried out by East Midlands Solutions (who are the people who have been doing the work on the old Post Office in Stafford Street), and by Rob Brooks of Brooks Painting.

This work was originally scheduled for 2019, but major fire prevention and other H & S work had to take priority.

So now we are taking advantage of the enforced closure of most Hall activities due to the pandemic, to get this project done.

The work includes

• Electrical system update.
• Internal Insulation on external walls and roof
• Replastering where necessary
• Repairing leaks on the roof of the Bar area
• Repainting of Main Hall, Stage, Ante-rooms; Foyer, Kitchen; Bar; Staircase, Snooker Room and Committee Room.

And hopefully, when all is finished, we will have an newly elegant Town Hall alongside its brash newcomer, the Annexe.
