It is now looking as if the impasse on the refurbished public toilets in Audlem will soon be over.

Despite virtually all the work being completed more than a month ago, the toilets have remained closed awaiting the formal hand-over of ownership from Cheshire East to Audlem Parish Council.

Last night, a Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: “Cheshire East Council is anticipating that the maintenance and running of Audlem’s newly refurbished toilets will be transferred to Audlem Parish Council early next week.

“This represents the very first transfer of assets from Cheshire East Council to a local parish council. It is in keeping with our policy to transfer and devolve services and functions to towns and parishes as part of the Council’s commitment to localism.”

So Audlem Online now confidently looks forward within a matter of days to being able to announce the date for the formal opening of the refurbished toilets.

This will no doubt be a great relief to all concerned.
