The next big Audlem Event is just days away on Thursday 28th November with the now very popular Big Switch On.

As well as switching on the thousands of lights on the big Christmas tree in the Square erected by ADAS – who have also installed 58 small trees on buildings throughout the centre of the village – the event sees Santa arriving on Audlem Lass down by the canal and late night shopping. Audlem now has an amazing eighteen shops, more than double the number five years ago.

From 5.00pm, the RNLI will be selling and lighting 'Wish' candles by the canal – they float away and make a magical sight as well as lighting the way to guide Santa safely in.

At 5.15pm Children start their procession from School to the Wharf, arriving there at 5.30pm.

At 6.00pm, Santa arrives on Audlem Lass and disembarks by the Shroppie Fly (which is now open again following its superb refurbishment) and at 6.15pm the excitement moves to the centre of the village with the Big Switch On of the lights and Late Night Shopping.

At 6.20pm, Father Christmas will be in the Grotto at 17 Shropshire Street and until 8.00pm.

The boutique shops will be open for late night shopping until 8.30pm (or as and when the crowds subside) offering unusual Christmas gifts and a selection of complimentary festive refreshments, giveaways and competitions to enjoy along with live music.

The Charity shop will also be open during the evening with lots of bargains on offer.

As you can see from the poster – click on it to enlarge – the event is being supported by Audlem's shops and businesses – a range now in the village that few would have dreamed of just a few years ago.

They all add up to a good reason to shop locally at Christmas and throughout the year with free parking, friendly village service and no hassle.
