Last Saturday's 'Them with Tails' show was an outstanding success, report t.a.v.a. (Touring Arts Visiting Audlem). The event, held at St James' school, was really well attended with over 100 people, some of whom had travelled long distances. The highly talented theatre company succeeded in performing a play which had just as much appeal to the adults in the audience as to the children – some of the audience would say of more appeal to adults! It was a truly family show in every sense of the word. And a great achievement.

The drama workshop completely sold out. The children had a ball expressing themselves, and produced a kind of still life show at the end of the workshop. To facilitate a workshop which had such a wide range of ages (3 to10) – and to keep all the children completely engaged showed real skill and talent, and was a joy to watch.

Comments from the children included: 'Really funny' – Shona (age 7); 'Really good – I liked the badger's nose!' said Thomas (age 7); 'Really good' – added Sara (age 3); 'I liked it because it was excellent and funny' said Evie (age 10) while Joshua (aged 8) said 'brilliant – fantastic' and Sally (age 7) agreed – 'really brilliant'. Millie (age 5) was full of praise, saying "I really loved all the singing, particularly the bit about tales on your behind!"

Some grown-ups also commented: 'Very clever' said Rebecca while Karen added, 'The best one for adults as well as for the kids'. 'Tears of laughter pouring down my face – great acting' said Paul and 'One of the best' said Sally. 'Fantastic – the best one yet' was Angela's verdict while Anne said 'It just made me constantly laugh out loud. What an amazing talent to appeal so much to the adults in the audience as well as the children. Just brilliant!' Fiona summed up the audience's view with 'Great show! What a hit!'

Support for the production was provided by the Cheshire Rural Touring Network, Audlem Parish Council, Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council and the Cheshire County Council. Without their support, the event would not have been possible.
