Following great generosity at Audlem's Music Festival, the two local Fire Cadets, David Vernon and Sam Morley, who travel to Ghana in July, have achieved their £5,000 target.

David and I have been fundraising for over a year, supporting a team of cadets who will build a school by hand in Ghana this summer. The project has been a great success in the past, and this year is no exception.

The team has already raised over £50,000 thanks to our village's massive 10% contribution. The Music Festival was the final push for our individual targets and we are both grateful for the incredible support of the villagers.

The project involves Fire and Rescue Service Cadets from all around Cheshire, so it is something special that our village has made such a massive contribution to this important cause. David and I will travel (along with 12 other cadets) to Ghana on the 30th July for two weeks in order to complete the school that is being built right now, using the money we have raised.

The last year has been a huge ask for our small cadet unit, but once again the village has thrived and we, alongside the children of Ghana, are very grateful for the support. Meanwhile, David and I shall continue to work in order to support other members of the team.

I will try to post pictures on the website following our return from Ghana in August. If you would like more information on the project, or to make a donation to the cause, don't hesitate to email me at sammorley88@hotmail.co.uk">sammorley88@hotmail.co.uk.

Many thanks to the whole of Audlem
