At basement level, below the store-room at the Scout & Guide Hall – built in 1816 – an extra space has been created.
Up to the early 1970s, Stella Booth had kept a coke-fired boiler going there to provide heat in the old Methodist Hall while many young people (mid-40s and upwards now) would remember having had their school lunch there.
This was done by Stella until the new school was built in Heathfield Road. We have been sent a photo of Stella Booth which will, we are sure, be of interest to all who knew her.
With the stair access, we now have some additional storage for the use of our uniformed groups.
The Scout & Guide Hall will be closed from Sunday 6th April until 16th April for redecoration.
