A celebration lunch was enjoyed by over eighty past and present committee members and supporters on Sunday at the Public Hall, to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Audlem Branch of the St Luke's Hospice Support Group.

The lunch was prepared by Bill and Steve, the catering management of the Hospice itself, and all agreed that it was a very good advertisement for the standard of meals provided at the Hospice.

Ruth Kemble, Chairman of the Audlem Support Group, described how over £130,000 (equating to £435 per month) had been raised by the Audlem Group during the 25 years. She then introduced Andrea Ladeira, of the St Luke's Marketing team, who outlined some of the challenges facing the fund-raising efforts of the Support Groups in the current financial climate.

Doctor Vi Pritchard spoke of how she started the Audlem Support Group 25 years ago with a public meeting to which one person came along, but undaunted she had tried again (this time avoiding a clash of dates with the WI) with more success and the rest, as they say, is history....
