I send to you the latest product of the pen of Jessie, Audlem's poet from last year's Festival Poetry Slam, as she looks to the joy of Spring arriving.
Ralph Warburton

Trumpeting the Spring

I saw them standing upon the grass
As I walked towards the church
They were standing proud
like soldiers; soldiers of the earth -
Daffodils.

I was dressed for the winter
And shivering in the wind.
They were clothed in green,
And not long born
But dancing in the breeze
Daffodils.

Among them, peeping
Standing – bright as buttons -
Cheeky little faces
Looking up at me -
Daisies

Nature at her very best
Unveiling her Spring's collection.
