ASC Saints under 11s took on one of their title rivals on Sunday when they played last seasons champions ASC (Boca) Juniors.

As one would expect the game started out at a furious pace and the first quarter of the game saw Saints pegged into their own half. Defending was stout and a stunning save from the Saints' keeper kept the scores level. Then, midway through the first half, Saints worked the ball from end to end in 3 passes and the centre forward tucked the ball home. The goal seemed to galvanise Saints further and they doubled the lead on the stroke of half time with another well taken goal.

Saints knew that Juniors would come out guns blazing in the second half and so it proved as they got a goal back straight from the re-start. The Saints boys did really well at this point in that they didn't panic or over complicate things. They simply carried on playing the neat football that had started to create a few chances. The crucial turning point of the game came just a few minutes later when from a low corner, the Saints striker performed a beautiful back heel flick to put the ball into the bottom corner and Saints were 3-1 up. That goal seemed to deflate Juniors somewhat and Saints went on to add two more and ran out comfortable 5-1 winners. This was a very good performance. The win leaves Saints at the top of the league, though Nantwich Tigers can draw level if they win each of their 3 games in hand. An exciting end to the season looks in store with Saints having just 7 league games left to play.

There is a break from league action now as there is no game on 14th (half term) and the 21st Feb game is a cup game Vs Betley (time and venue tba)
