Audlem Saints U10s played some outstanding football in this match against a Red Dot team sitting high in the table and a capable team themselves. The first period was pretty even but perhaps it was Saints that created more chances.

Good passing but more importantly some great, intelligent runs from midfield created space and opportunities but an inspired Red Dot goalkeeper kept the scores level in the first period. Pressure told eventually though and Audlem scored 4 in the space of 12 minutes to settle the game. The first 3 were simple but effective passing moves from back to front, each one finished with an assured calmness.

The final goal was a 20 yard screamer after a strong midfield run, just reward for a hardworking midfielder's performance. In fact, the midfield were very good indeed today, working well as a unit in both defence and attack. The defenders played well not only defending strongly but setting in motion Audlem attacks with clever, accurate clearances and passes. The strikers rounded off a good all round perfomance with calm finsihing and good workrates. Well done boys.

The victory keeps Audlem Saints within one point of the league leaders but with only one game to play, it looks like it will be the Runner Up spot for Saints. That final league game is on Sunday but before then, on Saturday, Saints play Cheshire Blades in the Cup semi final.
