A teenager who died in a suspected hit-and-run accident near Audlem has been named.
Police have named the victim as Arnold Higgins, aged 19, from Market Drayton who was known to his friends as 'Arnie'.
His body was found on the roadside verge of the A529 between Adderley and Market Drayton early on Friday morning.
It is believed he may have been struck by a vehicle while walking home from work in the dark at around 4.45pm.
The A529 was closed for more than six hours as police investigated the scene of the accident after the find was reported at about 8.30am the following day.
Police today renewed an appeal for witnesses, describing the incident as a tragic accident.
The vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident has not yet been traced and police are keen for information from anyone who saw a person walking along the road from Adderley towards Market Drayton at the time.
Friends in Market Drayton were planning to hold a lantern service in Mr Higgins's memory and tributes have been made on social networking sites.
Richard Ewels, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Police are still trying to piece together the circumstances behind this incident and anyone with information can contact is on 101 quoting reference 81S 081113."
