The bell ringers have asked us to report that tomorrow Friday 21st April at 6.30 pm they will ring a quarter peal at Audlem St James' to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's 80th birthday.

Just in case you've forgotten (or never knew!) a quarter peal is a complex manoeuvre that takes approximately 40 minutes and involves 1,260 changes. So it's no easy job, and each change is a different permutation of the order in which the bells are rung.

Also, in earlier news stories we promised to keep you informed of the bell ringers' progress throughout the year in their efforts to complete 60 peals within the calendar year. In order to accomplish this feat, they obviously have to average more than one peal per week. Unfortunately, they are still behind schedule at this stage with the total to date now standing at TWELVE.
