Santa arrived safely aboard the Audlem Lass and made his way to the Square. After the official countdown, he switched on the Christmas lights amidst much cheering and applause.

Audlem St James' School children sang some Christmas songs on the Church steps to an appreciative audience.

Santa then proceeded to the Grotto where he chatted to over one hundred young people – they all enjoyed the opportunity to meet him. Santa's Elves worked hard giving out sweets to all who visited the Grotto.

The local shops were busy and there was a truly festive atmosphere in the village.

Thanks are due again to Ralph Warburton who sponsored the Switch-On and to Angela and Graham Allinson of Hatherton Lodge who kindly donated the Big tree.

Also many thanks are due to the army of volunteers and helpers who made the event so successful, especially those who allowed premises to be used for dressing the trees and the Grotto as well as everyone who helped with the erection of the Big tree.

If you would like to sponsor one of the small trees please take your £10 donation to Flower Divas

Also, if you have not yet returned your subscription envelope please return it as soon as possible to Williams Newsagents or Flowere Divas.

The next ADAS event will be ' Carols in the Square' accompanied by Crewe Brass. This will take place on Thursday 21st December at 7.30pm

Do come along and enjoy this festive evening!
