Rapid progress for Saints

After a night of fireworks and candy floss, Audlem Saints took to the pitch on a bright crisp Sunday Morning.

We were playing the Crewe MereKats, a team that we played six weeks ago and lost to 4-1. After a late night I was expecting a mixed response from them as we arrived for a 10.10 am kick off. I was not met with the usual desire of eight youngsters all wanting the one position of striker. Instead I was met with a group of boys who have really developed into a team Audlem can be proud of. No arguments, no silliness, just eight boys who said "we are being professional this week".

After 10 minutes we were 4-0 up and two substitutions were made, 20 minutes and we were 8-0 up and despite taking our midfield off, we ended the game 9-0.

A hat trick from Isaac and Rohan and two goals from Jake, were great but the defence was equally as good as they kept a clean sheet.

Smiles all around and talk of what a team we have become in a short space of time. There is even talk of another promotion at the end of this season.

Although it would appear that with results like this it is easy going, it is anything but. Audlem Saints provide the training on a Saturday morning and all of us in the team cannot thank them enough for this.

I would also publicly like to thank the families of the team who week in week out turn up to support and encourage their children and for the support they offer me and Bob Teal as managers of the team.
