The Fat Pigeon Night & Galleon Blast

I had the very great pleasure of attending The Session on Saturday night of FatPigeon presenting a night to be remembered.

The whole FP crew had slaved all day in converting our "world famous Scout Hall" into a venue to rival Glastonbury.

The drama of the stage with a mass of electronic gizmos that took up a huge part of the Hall greeted us, the punters, as we entered what was a truly magnificent recording studio.

A good crowd of very happy aficionados were presented with a fantastic evening of such high musical talents. The theme was piratical with ticket holders encouraged to dress in a bit of the skull & crossbones gear.

The evening opened as Ian Haughey & Pete Marshall introduced us to a beautiful young singer with a voice far above her 17 years. Megan Kelsey – www.facebook.co./megankelseymusic.

Megan gave us a wide range of superb singing and guitar playing, with many pieces she has written herself. Megan, born in Shrewsbury, is a true star and I am delighted to say she appeared in our Audlem Music Festival last May, singing in the courtyard environs.

Then we were blasted into a night of such rousing and rumbustious music as Mark Radcliffe (of BBC radio fame) headed up the Galleon Blast band-www.facebook.com/galleonblast. They had the hall bouncing with a real virtuoso performance of sea songs and musicians at their best. Superb drumming, mandolin, base, fiddle, accordion, guitar and pipe melodious expertise. Non stop ear and heart filling songs over a very wide repertoire.

What a place this village is that such talent thrives here and puts on such a professional show as the Fat Pigeon team did last night. Not for nothing is the phrase " Capital of South Cheshire " murmured on occasion.

I look forward to seeing the whole night on YouTube and attaining the next offering by Fat Pigeon.
