Audlem Online understands from sources close to the BBC that Radio Stoke is considering a proposal to set up a Radio Studio in Audlem.

Following the successful and entertaining interviews of Audlem residents in recent weeks, when Radio Stoke was made welcome and learnt what an active village we have here in Audlem, we understand they are actively considering setting up a studio in the village.

Apparently, businesses in and around the village square will be asked if they have a room of approximately 4 metres square which could be used as a radio studio and into which residents could enter to be interviewed.

A more controversial aspect of the proposal, we understand, would be a submission for planning permission to erect a radio transmitter mast on the St. James Church tower, although we believe other sites are being considered.

Some consideration is being given to the name of this station namely : "Radio Audlem" or "South Cheshire Radio" or even "Border Counties Radio" given that Audlem borders on several other counties and Wales.

New recruits will be needed to act as DJ, News Broadcaster, Weather Forecaster, Woore correspondent and programme presenter. Initially these will be volunteers – but who knows what the future may bring.
If you have an interest let AudlemOnline Editor know in the first instance.

We understand the hope is to establish the Radio Station by the beginning of April 2016.
