Roland Hall retires

Roland chaired the APHAx committee which drove the project to build the extension to the Public Hall, known as the Annexe (or "the bit on the side").

Roland managed the project through the four years of conception, funding, design and building of the Annexe. He then managed the first year (2018) while all the various bits came together, and then 2019 while it turned into a smooth (or at least fairly smooth) operation.

Roland has recently been advised for health reasons to take a less demanding role, so he will retire as Chairman in the New Year.

The many Public Hall users owe a big "Thankyou" to Roland for all his unremitting efforts during the past few years.

Annexe facilities management

ADCA (Audlem and District Community Action) are the major use of Annexe facilities, apart from the Community Gym, so the decision has been taken to "outsource" the day-to-day physical management of the Annexe to ADCA. They will organise cleaning and general upkeep of the Annexe,
Adriana Roscoe, who has been prominently involved in running the Community Gym since it opened in November 2017 will now take on the role of bookings manager for the Annexe.

Health and Safety

A new fire alarm system has been installed in the Town Hall. Instruction and practice sessions will be organised for Public Hall users will be organised in the new year.
The locks on both the Town Hall and the Annexe front doors have been changed so that they can be unlocked manually from inside – this is a fire safety requirement.

Town Hall Refurbishment

Now that the Annexe is up and running, and some vital Health & Safety issues have been addressed, our attention turns to a major project to generally refurbish and upgrade the Town Hall.

Volunteers

The Public Hall has been lucky to have some new volunteers join the team over the last year or two, particularly John Latham and Adriana Roscoe for the Community Gym, Tony Richardson dealing with Health and Safety issues and Roger Millns looking after Safeguarding.
Meanwhile Olive and Geoff have soldiered on keeping the Town Hall and all its myriad users under control.

But we do need more volunteers who would be prepared to join us in the management of this vital village asset.
