This is a summary of some of the main points which arose at the Parish Council meeting on Monday evening. NOTE - these are not the official minutes of the meeting which will be published as usual when they are available.
- Audlem PC paused at the start of the meeting to remember past-member of the PC, Frank Goodwin, who died in October.
- Geoff Seddon was selected by the PC to fill the casual vacancy that arose following the resignation of Irene Stockton.
- Car park CCTV will cost £1230 (approved).
- The Parish Plan Community Projects proposal to consider a Games area at the far corner of the car park – football and basketball – received very mixed views despite any loss of car parking spaces being more than counter-balanced by spaces gained through marking out.
- Drop-kerbing on Stafford Street leading down to the Post Office has now become a priority with Highways LAP in Nantwich, as have Pinch points at the canal bridge and New Bridge.
- Concern has been expressed by Coxbank residents about the Swanbach/ Coxbank junction.
- Conservation area at Churchfields – it was suggested that the PC should be approached for permission for any future work and that the PC should also consider ideas for the future of the area. ADAS has informally suggested a Community Orchard.
- The Toilets official opening is on 16/11 at 11.00pm. Thanks were formally expressed to Martyn Measures and Hibberts for saving the community much money on legal work. Bill Consterdine and Mike Hill were thanked for all their work. ADAS has said it will plant out around the toilets.
- Three councillors attended a very positive meeting with United Utilities and representatives of Kingbur Place. UU, following the legislation that came into effect in October, is now responsible for the sewers. They say they are happy with the 4" (10cm) pipe (but Peter Silvester of Audlem Mill is not) that goes under Kingbur Mill but UU wish to change that at some stage. UU have promised to investigate the smell regularly occurring near the Co-op.
- Concern was expressed that householders in the conservation areas did not realise they have to have planning permission to install solar panels.
- The council received a report of a meeting on Superfast Broadband. The PC is to set up a Business Group as extensive grants and expertise are available. Superfast Broadband – 10 times or more the current speeds – are vital for attracting businesses and resources.
