Audlem Parish Council has lodged a formal objection to plans to build up to 36 homes on fields off the Mill Lane bridleway.

The submission states: "Parish Council is extremely concerned by the development, its effect on the characteristics and vitality of the village, safety of the villagers and potential environmental and sustainability hazards caused by the proposed development of the site."

The council has paid an estimated £595 to Macclesfield-based consultants to help draw up the 21-page document which outlines the objections to the scheme.

They set out nine reasons for their objection:

Compliance with the Development Plan; Compliance with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF); Impacts on local Heritage and Environment; Flood Risk; Layout & Design; Drainage; Habitat/Protected Species; Transport Issues; Sustainability.

Full details of the document can be read on the Cheshire East website by clicking here.

Several links to stories on AudlemOnline are included in the submission including links to photos of flood fields in the Salford area of the village.

Other documents submitted with the Parish Council statement are details of a Public Local Inquiry into Objections to the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich Replacement Local Plan which found against a move to earmark land at Mill Lane for housing.

The Parish Council submission takes the number of comments made on the Mill Lane proposals to around 120. Although the Cheshire East website lists 189 records around 50 of these are background documents related to the original submission and many others are duplicate submissions made when the site suffered technical problems and Audlem residents made repeated attempts to upload their comments.

The last date for making comments online is now September 11th after Audlem Parish Council won an extra seven days to compensate for the technical problems but Audlem residents have been assured that comments made by post or email will still be considered right up to October 9th when the plans are due to go before Cheshire East's Strategic Planning Board.
