An investigation has been launched into standards of patient care at Whitchurch Community Hospital.
It follows a complaint by a hospital member of staff at conditions at the 32-bed facility in Claypit Street.
Interim chief executive of Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, Julia Bridgewater, has confirmed that an investigation has begun into the complaint.
She said: "Clearly it is of concern when a member of staff raises issues like these and we have already started to look at the specific points highlighted."
Allegations are understood to include patients left without water, drug trolleys left unsupervised and soiled bedding left unchanged.
The Shropshire hospital provides in-patient services for people who need hospital care but do not need to be in an acute hospital.
It has beds for rehabilitation and palliative care. GPs may admit patients to the hospital direct or patients may be transferred from acute hospitals.
