Parking conundrum on Audlem car park

A correspondent has told Audlem Online that drivers of cars parked in the centre of Audlem car park were being moved on by the Crewe & Nantwich Council's Traffic Attendants (previously known as Traffic Wardens) yesterday.

There is a clear warning on the large notice at the entrance to the carpark that vehicles must be parked within the marked bays. All fine and dandy except for one small problem: with the exceptions of the many disabled bays, and one white line next to the gloriously-named 'Urinals', the rest of the large car park is entirely devoid of white lines. Which, with a vigilant Traffic Attendant in action, could mean that it is technically illegal to park on the public car park.

Numerous requests have been made by Audlem Parish Council over the years to Crewe & Nantwich BC to paint proper bay markings in Audlem. Given that C&NBC have now taken over responsibility for enforcing parking, and also collect the numerous fines, they might get the markings done so locals and visitors alike can park without fear of a fine or being moved on.

White lines would also allow far more vehicles to be parked, a benefit to all with ever more difficult parking elsewhere in the village.
