Parish Council meets tonight

There's an Audlem Parish Council meeting this evening at St James' School starting at 7.30pm. As always, the meeting will start with a Public Forum where members of the public will be invited to speak.

Items on the agenda include co-option of further members to the council – there has been a good number of applications – and to consider acceptance of a quotation for refurbishment work on the Public Toilets off Cheshire Street.

At Audlem Parish Council's Extraordinary Meeting two weeks ago, it was agreed that in future each councillor would act as "lead" for a particular aspect of the Parish Council's work.

New flexible working groups, shadowing the 2010 Parish Plan working groups, a good number of which continue to operate, should also be formed. These groups would report regularly to the Parish Council and make recommendations as appropriate.

Councillors plan to work with members of Parish Plan groups, and it was agreed that the Parish Council should now be able to act as a catalyst to make progress. The recent introduction of Unitary Government had brought the Parish Council more into contact with the top layer of local government and there was therefore more opportunity to influence local events.

• Access & Inclusion: Frances Mary Christie
• Devolved Services: Dave Siddorns
