Audlem Parish Council would like to introduce residents to three new Councillors that have join over the past few months. Suzie Warren, Patricia Salt and George McLaren-Brown have all come on board to work with the Parish Council helping influence important decisions affecting the village and delivering benefits to the community.

New Councillors

Suzie Warren returns to Parish Council after a break of just over a year. She has lived in Audlem since April 2016 and has run her own home-based PA/admin business for over nineteen years. She is very passionate about the environment and community, this is reflected in the sterling work she does volunteering for ADAS.

Pat Salt knows the village very well as she has lived in the area for over 40 years. Pat has 30 years experience in retail management culminating in a post of Due Diligence Expert for a well known brand. Latterly she worked in business management within the NHS. Pat currently volunteers as an adviser for the Crewe Citizens Advice and has a strong passion for community. She is looking forward to becoming involved in the work of the Parish Council.

George McLaren-Brown has lived in the village for just under a year. An entrepreneurial man he has worked across many industries including engineering, farming, quarrying, road contracting and owning his own storage company and static caravan park. Now retired, he is also looking forward to looking after his community and taking part in local affairs.

Stepping Down

Councillor Tim Lawton stepped down in September after almost 2 years of service during which time he was heavily involved in many of the Parish Council's working group committees to deliver solutions and look after the village. The Parish Council wishes to thank Tim for all his diligent work and effort in helping Audlem during this time.

New Councillor Required

Audlem Parish Council is now looking to co-opt one new Councillor and invites applications from residents who want to help shape the future of our community. Apart from the fact that applicants must be over the age of 18, a British or EU citizen and on the electoral roll, Councillors can come from all stages and walks of life.

Councillors work to ensure the views of the community are heard on issues such as planning, highways, law and order, and the environment. They manage the budget to ensure that the correct level of precept is applied for so that local groups can be supported, the public conveniences are properly maintained, and the Parish assets are in good condition. Last year the Parish Council purchased Turnpike Field to protect this 11.5 acre field from housing development. Amongst a number of potential uses are a wildlife sanctuary and a green car park.
Our Neighbourhood Plan – one of the first in Cheshire East – was drawn up after extensive community consultation and helps protect against speculative, unplanned development.
