A Christmas gift for Nantwich Riding for the Disabled

Christmas came early for Nantwich and District Riding for the Disabled, who are based at Reaseheath College's Equine Department.

Janet Maughan, of Overwater Marina, Audlem presented Irene Pawsey and Liz Cleghorn, two of the RDA volunteers, and Bobby the pony, with a donation instead of sending out Christmas cards to the marina's clients and suppliers.

Janet Maughan said "This year our team at the marina wanted to do something different to celebrate Christmas and we can't think of any better way than to donate to such a worthy cause as Nantwich RDA. I recently visited Reaseheath to meet the volunteers and horses and was humbled by their commitment to improving people's lives through riding therapy".

The group are based at Reaseheath's Equine Unit and as they are recently formed are working hard to raise funding to help them to buy more equipment and continue to provide riding therapy for Nantwich and the surrounding areas. The four equine stars they have are Ben, Mac, Bobby and Muffin and the group is always on the look out for larger ponies and horses for adult riders.

They have a specialist mounting block and wheelchair ramp and riding safety equipment. The group are currently collecting used postage stamps which they can use to raise funds. Stamps can be left at the Equine Unit's office or in the collecting box in the reception at Overwater Marina.
