Ode to the Common People

Lines penned on Thursday evening

And so the squabbling is over, mainly between the reds and blues.
The media they had a field day, keeping it on the front page news..

But now the dust has settled, we try to get back to a normal life..
We will carry on working, providing for partner, husband or wife..

But what about the politician's, all their promises that they give..
Do they honestly really know, just how the other half of us live..

You can forget about the Brexit, Immigration or our lovely NHS..
We still have roughly the same people, who started this silly mess..

When parliament next opens, and the talking starts up once more..
Those self-important individuals, will look after themselves for sure..

Our lives of course will not change, we will always be made to pay..
We will always have to give blood sweat and tears, until our dying day
