Happy New Year – Welcome Back!

Happy New Year, I hope your Christmas was wonderful and 2014 has started well for you all. We have had a busy first week back in school with all of the children returning to start new topics in their classes.

Our INSET day on Monday was focused on our involvement in the Achievement for All programme. Staff and Governors met to agree our vision for the 3 As (Achievement, Aspirations and Access) in our school.
We aim to provide the 3As through:
Aspirations

We work to ensure that all our children become independent, responsible and life long learners who value and respect themselves, their peers, family, school and the wider community; striving to reach their potential into adulthood.

Achievement
Our shared vision for achievement is to enable everyone to have the confidence to become independent and interdependent learners for life through the enjoyment of and participation in a rich curriculum, with all achievements regularly celebrated by all stakeholders; resulting in each member of our community achievieng their full potential.

Access
We seek to ensure that all children have high quality teaching and learning opportunities and creative experiences, with interventions that are high impact, subject specific and measurable.

All of the children in school will be part of our work on this programme and I look forward to updating you further on this in the future.

FASA

The first FASA meeting of the new term will take place next Thursday at 2pm in the school hall. The main agenda item will be planning FASA's next event, the Spring Term Disco. I hope many of you will be able to attend.

Thank you to all of the families who have donated to our Rag Bag Bin. Remember, any old clothes, shoes or covers that are donated are converted to money for school resources.

Parent Forum Meeting

I would like to remind you that our next Parent Forum Meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th January from 9.15am – 10.15am in the school hall. Refreshments will be available from 9am.

Please send any items or comments you would like to have discussed at this meeting into school by the morning of Wednesday 15th January when I will be meeting
with the Chair and Secretary to set the final agenda. You can do this via email, the Parent Forum postbox outside Mr Griffith's classroom or by sending a note into school in your child's reading folder.

Internet Safety Training

Nantwich Education Partnership – Internet Safety Training for Parents
A reminder that our Partnership have organised an internet safety workshop for parents to take place on Tuesday 14th January at Wyche Primary School in Nantwich. I sent out a letter at the end of last term detailing this session and more details are available on our Partnership website: http://bit.ly/18TLQbD

Please let Miss Cooper in our school office know if you are able to attend so we can let the host school know expected numbers. I hope to see many of you there.

Recycling Cartridges

Thank you to families who have sent in items to be recycled as part of our cartridge recycling scheme. We have received a payment of £21 for school funds from the cartridges recycled so far which we will be able to use to subsidise activities for children in school.

A reminder that for every original inkjet & toner cartridge recycled through the scheme, school will receive £1. For working and non-working mobile phones, the scheme will pay £3. The scheme also recycles gadgets such as MP3 players, digital cameras, hand-held game consoles and sat navs in working condition. For more information please visit http://www.recyclingforschools.co.uk/ Thank you.

Baby News

I am delighted to inform you that Mrs Adamson gave birth to a little girl who she has named Sophia, during the Christmas break. Both mother and baby are doing well and we send our congratulations and best wishes to both Mrs Adamson and her family at this very special time.

Finally

As we begin our new term I would like to thank the many parents who have contacted me with feedback about our wonderful Christmas events and about school life in general. I really value all feedback. By continuing to work together we can ensure our school continues to be a wonderful place to be.
