More than 30,000 visitors are forecast to enjoy the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival which opens today

Events are being staged all over the town for the three-day festival which runs to Sunday.

The town square will have a seated Food Theatre where chefs from local restaurants will show off their skills while food and craft stalls will be set up in several places including Churchyardside, Pepper Street and the Cocoa Yard.

A huge food emporium will be set up on Church Lane car park with food and drink from all offering delicacies and drinks from around the world.

The Mornflake Food Hall marquee is sited on the Bowling Green car park and a children's game area is on the Residence car park in Mill Street.

The Methodist Church Hall hosts a Pudding Club of locally made dishes while the White Horse pub has a bouncy castle, face-painter and crazy golf.

Nantwich Museum is holding a photographic display of scenes from last year's festival while the Market Hall has a burger eating contest in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Food festival chairman Deborah Robb said: "We have wonderful sponsors and 40 plus volunteers all out to make this weekend the most memorable yet."

The festival generated more than £2million for the town last year and organisers hope to top that this year.
