More trouble with online planning comments

It appears that Audlem residents are having more problems when submitting comments on planning applications on the Cheshire East website

There were several complaints earlier this year about the Cheshire East planning website when Audlem residents tried to submit online comments on the Gladman housing proposals.

Now it appears others are having difficulty when making online submissions on the Mill Lane application.

One objector eventually posted a submission on Mill Lane by email after difficulties with the online system.

The objector's email said: "I have tried to use the on-line system for presenting my objections, but when I pressed the "submit" button, nothing happened. I assume that my letter can be considered as there must be some residents who do not have access to the Internet."

AudlemOnline also had problems when trying to access the page to submit comments on the Mill Lane application yesterday.

Two of us gave up after the page refused to load despite several attempts and one received a warning notice that 'forms.cheshireeast.gov.uk' was interrupted and the web page was not available.

Similar problems with non-reactive buttons and slow load times were encountered when submissions were being made on the controversial Gladman proposals earlier this year.

Posts on Audlem Online's Chatbox complained that Gladman submissions brought up errors and when AudlemOnline attempted to post a comment the page seized up when the 'Submit' button was clicked.

After investigating the matter a Cheshire East spokesman said their engineers could find nothing wrong with the site and that there should be "no more problems" with posting comments on planning applications .

But we strongly advise AudlemOnline readers to make a copy of their comments before trying to submit them on the Cheshire East website.

If you cannot, like us, get the website to work you can send your comment by email to planning@cheshireeast.gov.uk or by post to Development Management, PO Box 606, Municipal Buildings, Crewe, Cheshire, CW1 9HP

Remember to include the planning reference number, the development site location and your full name and address. Remember too that the closing date for submissions on Mill Lane proposals is September 4th.

For the Mill Lane development the relevant information is
Ref No: 13/3210N
Location: LAND EAST OF 22, HEATHFIELD ROAD, AUDLEM, CW3 0HH

Update at 4.30pm: A Cheshire spokesman says: "I am told the problem has been fixed. It was a minor 'intermittent' problem which should now be fixed. People still have a week to submit comments and apparently comments do not appear straight away once submitted. This is stated on the website."
