More news of Berni from Houston

An update from the USA from Colin Cliffe on Berni's treatment as she recovers from major surgery in Houston, Texas:

"Berni isn't doing that great so they moved her again on Saturday to the high dependency unit where she is constantly monitored.

"Their hopes of getting her up and about are just unrealistic and she is now on oxygen 24/7. Ironically the biggest problem she has is her back; she is in agony and they just can't get it right.

"Cath and I spent time with the surgeons and doctors yesterday talking about all the possible pain relief alternatives and they are planning to try several things, but as they explained they are limited as to what they can do because she has had major surgery.

"They are all really good and she is being looked after really well. They are sending her for a full body scan today (that was Sunday) to see if they can see any problems. We are going back there now (again, that is Sunday and will probably be there all day.

"It's 110 degrees today so we are actually better off at the hospital."

Ralph Warburton, who is being kept in touch with news of Berni's treatment, has replied saying:

"I am sure everybody here in Cheshire and most likely beyond, are with you in their hearts. My very best to you all there in Houston."
