More news from the School, following on from yesterday's article:

FASA

We are very lucky to have a hard working FASA group who support school with many projects. FASA will be holding an open coffee meeting for all parents next week to welcome new and more established parents to our Parent Fundraising group. This meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th September at 2.30pm in our school hall. I hope many of you can join us then.

FASA's first fundraising event of the school year is a Pub Quiz at the Lord Combermere on Tuesday 30th September. The quiz begins at 9pm and will be hosted by Ralph Warburton. All proceeds from the quiz go to FASA and their support for projects in school.

Don't forget the Rag Bag bin in school, if you have any old clothes, shoes or covers that you
are happy to donate, please bag them up and put them into the bin at the main school gates for FASA to generate funds for school.

ABC Childcare

ABC is a provider of funded childcare for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and offer a high quality provision across this age range. The criteria for funded 2 year old places in Cheshire East has been extended from September 2014.  To check your eligibility, please contact the Family Information Service on 0300 123 5033.

ABC also provide high quality Breakfast and After School Club care. They open from 7.45a.m until 6.00p.m, Monday to Friday. If you would like further details about this or any of the other provision ABC provide, please contact Lynsey on 01270 669050.

Marrows!

I know that families across school have been tending to their marrows carefully over the summer and the time for bringing them into school to be judged is fast approaching.

Bryony Nixon will be in school on Tuesday 16th September to judge the marrows and we ask that children bring their entries into school on Monday 15th September in preparation for this. Please ensure each plant is clearly labelled with your child's name and year group when they bring them in on this day. Good luck to everyone!

Volunteer Helpers in School

We were well supported by people volunteering to come into school to help with reading
and activities in classes last year. We really appreciate the time people are willing to give to this and are keen to make the best use of it.

Governor Letter

Our Governing Body have sent out a letter to all families summarising their work in school
this week. We hope this gives you a flavour of the important role they have in our school community. Governors and staff met as part of our INSET training on Monday to finalise our Strategic School Development Plan for this year and we will continue to work closely throughout the year.

School Meals and Pupil Premium

As you are aware, from September 2014, the Government have introduced a new initiative (Universal Infant Free School Meals) to provide free school meals to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

This scheme has been launched in school this week, very successfully, thanks to the hard work of our Cook, Mrs Hayward and the team of Kitchen and Mid Day Assistant staff.

Cheshire East Council will continue to administer free school meals to families that receive qualifying state benefits. Any family who feels they may be eligible for this scheme should
apply by telephone on 0300 123 5012.

All schools receive additional funding known as the Pupil Premium for pupils registered with the Council for free school meals based on income levels, therefore any parents who may qualify should still apply to the Council if they are in receipt of one of the qualifying benefits, even if your child is currently in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2.

Finally

As usual, I will be on the playground before school most mornings to speak to parents, carers and children. If you would like to speak to me about any aspect of school life and are unable to see me then, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment or email me directly.

I look forward to working with both you and your children again this year.
