The new cricket season started with a bang yesterday as Audlem First XI 's opening bowler Stuart Elkes clean bowled Saughall's captain, James Huxley, with the first ball of the match. Huxley had the last laugh however as he took 6 wickets for 14 in Saughall's 73 run victory.

Saughall were restricted to 141 for 8 in their 48 overs with Dave Adlard (3 for 35), Elkes (2 for 20) and Dave Parry (2 for 25) being the pick of the Audlem bowlers. In reply Audlem slumped from 60 for 4 to 68 all out, with only skipper Steve Swallow (36) reaching double figures.

Audlem 2nd XI's game away to Mossley was called off as Mossley's pitch was waterlogged.
