The recce for this walk was done on Tuesday, in glorious weather after a misty start.
In view of the 90 minute drive to the start point we are proposing to leave the main Audlem car park on Saturday (24th October) at 8.30 am prompt.
The walk was 11.97 km – 7.5 miles give or take a smidgeon. There were eight stiles, four of them with adjacent gates.
Plenty of sheep around and evidence of cows, although we didn't meet any face-to-face.
The walk starts and ends at the Quiet Woman pub in Earl Sterndale – the pub sign shows a woman with her head missing, draw your own conclusions!
Two short, sharp descents and two short, sharp ascents, otherwise a reasonably relaxed walk. One of the descents is an old stone packhorse track and could be a little slippery of very wet.
If the weather is good the views of upper Dovedale and the Reef Hills are terrific.
