The Long ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk this coming Saturday, 11th April, is around Leintwardine.

It will be led by Peter Kay; leaving Audlem Car Park at 8.30am.

The following is Peter's description:

The walk starts in the village of Leintwardine, 6 miles south of Craven Arms. It should take about an hour and a half to get there.

We pass through the the grounds of the 17th Century Downton Castle situated on the River Teme and the hamlets of Burrington and Downton on the Rock before returning to Leintwardine.

The walk uses a mixture of grassy footpaths, tracks and quiet country lanes. There are good views
throughout. The countryside bounding the Teme is famously bumpy so there are several climbs.

The one steep one is rewarded by an excellent view of the castle.

The walk is a good 3 booter. Length about 10.5 miles, height gain 1600ft., with a start time from Audlem Public Hall car park 8.30.
