The Long ARS walk for August is on Saturday 8th August, meet Audlem Car Park at 8.30 am

Connor Mcilwrath is leading next Saturday's walk; here is his description –

A lesser trodden route around the Clwyds taking in Moel Arthur & Moel Famau from Cilcain.

Approx. 10 miles with 750m of ascent.

The route starts from the village of Cilcain. There is informal parking for up to 8 cars on the outskirts of the village next to the old mill building at CH7 5PF. There is additional parking in the middle of the village if more spaces are required.

The route starts along the quiet lane up to the village and then heads north through a number of grass fields. The route continues through fields and a short section of quiet lane towards Moel Evan taking in a couple of steep descents and ascents. The route then turns west around the back of Moel Evan heading towards Moel Arthur with the option of the short ascent to the summit.

From here we head south along Offa's Dyke taking in the steep climb up to Moel Llys-y-coed and then along the top of the hills to the highest point on Moel Famau. From here the route heads north along the Clwydian Way towards Cilcain. There are fantastic views along most of the route towards Cheshire and Snowdonia.
