The November Long ARS walk to Cadair Berwyn will be led by Karen Mason.

She writes:-

A short (6 miles) but challenging walk to the highest point of the Berwyn Range (832m). A 3-booter.

The walk begins at Pistyll Rhaeadr, near Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in the Tanat valley, Powys. We begin the ascent into Cwm Nant y Llyn with Cadair Berwyn soon coming into view. We climb steeply above Llyn Lluncaws and follow the path along the ridge to reach the south summit and highest point of Cadair Berwyn. We continue along the ridge to the trig point on the north summit before returning to the cairn shaped as a circular windbreak for our lunch. The views are great on a clear day.

For those who want to 'bag' Moel Sych summit, it's easily reached from the south summit of Cadair Berwyn but the descent to the valley from its summit is boggy (and boring) so we will avoid this more obvious circular route and retrace our steps to Cwm Nant y Llyn, this time enjoying the views down the valley.

There is the option of visiting the top of the waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr (height over 70m) before we descend to the car park and tea room (hopefully open) with great views of the waterfall.

Meet at Audlem car park at 8.30. The journey to Pistyll Rhaeadr takes about 1hr 10mins.
