Local Man takes Virgin to Wigan

We've had this sent in by Ralph Warburton about a recent trip to Wigan. Ed.

I had occasion this week to travel from Crewe to Wigan North.

Studied the fares and found the Edinburgh train would be stopping at Wigan. Booked myself a first class seat at just £21. Single. For I was to drive a car back to the village.

Train arrived just two minutes behind schedule, an 8 carriage long train in superb Virgin colours. The very good Pendolino carriages. I boarded coach J and to my reserved seat.

Within moments a steward there pouring me a very fine coffee and a question. Would I like breakfast? Then a glass of fresh orange juice 🥤
Excellent prompt service. Silent carriages. Full WiFi . All in that price! Clean as a whistle train.

Very impressive and I leave at Wigan, refreshed and thankful I avoided the M6 which was blocked from J18 north !!!!
