Despite having denied the rumours of around 200 job cuts at Leighton Hospital, and claiming that only a handful of clerical posts would go, The Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust has now confirmed that up to 250 jobs will go over the next 12 to 18 months.
The Trust is currently in debt by £1.7 million but by next year this will rise to nearly £11 million. They had hoped to make savings by cutting back on agency staff but, to claw back the cash the Trust needs, job cuts are needed. A statement said: "This will need to be handled very carefully because such radical measures taken in the course of a single year are likely to present some risks to the delivery of services."
