(The website link that was here no longer works) Last night Jim Kirkpatrick and Nigel Stonier played to an appreciative packed house at the Shroppie Fly. Their music ranged from self-penned tracks to classics from groups such as The Kinks and The Beatles – and all of it was brilliant! Less than two weeks ago Jim launched his new album Changed Priorities, a wonderfully eclectic blend of self-penned numbers. The album was produced by Nigel Stonier, who is jointly credited with four of the ten tracks. Audlem Online reviewed the album ten days ago but in case you missed it, we repeat the review today – indeed, having now had a chance to listen to Changed Priorities half a dozen times, it just gets better with each airing. This is what we said:-

"The album, which has been selected for release by London indie record label, 'A Startled Chameleon', displays Jim's mastery of blues, soul, through Eagles influenced country rock on That's The Reason Why, to R&B. Title track Changed Priorities and Heavy Weather both impress and Fly Away (Leap of faith) is a fine final track. Two outstanding numbers show a quietly reflective side of Jim's acoustic playing and vocals with Once Upon A Time With A Friend and Will I See You Again?. Two album tracks are credited Kirkpatrick/King, not, we suppose, the legendary BB who is, of course, touring the UK at present. Yet even he would be impressed with much of this album. Indeed, there isn't a single track that disappoints.

Much of the recent new talent on the national scene has been breaking out from the North – notably Leeds' Kaiser Chiefs and Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys. With just a bit of luck, and if there is any justice in the music world, Changed Priorities could be the breakthrough that Jim Kirkpatrick's renowned talent so richly deserves. Go and buy this album – you will be in for a treat. It can be ordered on Jim's website at www.jimkirkpatrick.com (The website link that was here no longer works) "

Changed Priorities will also be available on Amazon shortly.
