A biscuit by 'Jinja Bakes' is more than just a biscuit, but a 'Biscuit by Design'.

These gorgeous homemade biscuits are created by mother of two, Janis Warburton, and are made locally. You can meet Janis at the Jinja Bakes Kitchen which will be on the playing field on Bank Holiday Monday as part of Audlem Carnival.

With a designer background Janis, who is the founder and the inspiration behind Jinja Bakes, graduated from St Martin's College of Art and then carved a successful career as a designer and fashion buyer working in New York and London for famous names such as Donna Karan, Sachs, Miss Selfridge and River Island.

First loveHaving moved to this area to start a family, Janis continued her first love of baking by making biscuits with her children, but took it to a new level when her love of fabrics and all things vintage began to inspire her to create unique and quirky biscuits with wholesome and local ingredients, including duck eggs.

These, incidentally, are said to be a natural aphrodisiac and ginger is well known for its many health benefiting qualities. So you see...they really are good for you!

Slowly friends and family became aware of the gorgeous cakes and goodies and Janis found herself making more and more eventually forming Jinja Bakes and now runs a successful cottage industry from home.

Commenting on her designs Janis said: "I wanted to bring all my passions together in one and having baked since the age of 10. Having then gone onto fashion design, I pulled all this together and am inspired by beautiful embroidery and vintage fabrics with their amazing colours.

"I then try and re-create these colours from scratch almost like a painter's palate, and produce something that looks as good as it tastes."

And the future?: "I want Jinja Bakes to grow organically, with people able to buy products not just in shops but also by mail order – they actually post very well!"

You can find Jinja Bakes in all the best places, including The Coffee Lounge, Overwater Marina, Audlem Mill, Brown and Green in Trentham Village, Cheerbookes in Nantwich, Bridgemere Garden World and of course you could also go direct.

Why not "Say it with a biscuit" – Munchable Messages that are much funkier than flowers! – with a range of cards including Hot High-Heels, Handbags and Glad Rags, or, for the Garden God or Goddess in your life why not try a pair of Designer Wellies, Watering Can and a Blooming Glower!

See all this and more and meet Janis on the playing field on Bank Holiday Monday as part of Audlem Carnival. There will be lots to taste and buy with special offers, so make it your first point of call!
