Listeners to the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show hosted by Chris Evans may have heard a few familiar voices yesterday morning, as Ben Crompton counted down to the beginning of the JiggleJogle charity bike ride live on air.

Audlem Online regulars may have read our story last week about this commendable fundraiser which has been organised by Ben, his brother Barnaby and girlfriend Emily Moore. Well, yesterday was day one, and the intrepid trio were certainly thrown in at the deep end, tackling a 55 mile steep climb to Helmsdale in the far north of Scotland.

Those who missed it, can listen to the 'Mega Phone Call' by clicking the link under the photograph. You can also follow the progress of the team on their blog which is being updated live as they make their way down the country. JiggleJogle Blog: Day 1" rel="nofollow">JiggleJogle Blog: Day 1

The fundraiser has been organised to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, and is in memory of John Crompton. Many in Audlem will fondly remember John, who was heavily involved with the Methodist Church and directed several of the popular musical productions which take place there each year.

Audlem Online would like to wish the trio all the best for the tough journey ahead. If you would like to support their commendable effort to raise money for such an important charity, please visit their JustGiving page by clicking here" rel="nofollow">clicking here.
