It's a small world with Google

Many regular readers will have noted the photograph of fishing in a pothole used on a number of recent Audlem Online stories.

The photo of the 'unknown fisherman' was simply plucked from Google Images to show a massive pothole with, we hope, a little humour. For some reason, The Audlem Online webteam seemed to think it had been taken in Paraguay, South America.

Imagine our surprise when Audlem residents, John and Pam Vickers, asked how on earth we had found this photo of their nephew, Jamie.

Jamie, we are told, was touring Kenya some years ago, saw this massive pothole, and thought it might be suitable both for fishing and a fabulous photo opportunity. It may also have triggered fond memories of visits to his Aunt and Uncle in rural Cheshire!

By an amazing coincidence, given the thousands, nay millions, of photographs there are in the world of young men fishing in potholes, it turns up five years later on Audlem Online.

What are the odds against that photo having authentic Audlem connections? As they say, it's a small world!
