I am trying to find out what papers in Cheshire would be likely to record news of events or happenings in Buerton/Audlem in December 1834 and January 1835.

My great grandfather William Wright, who I believe to have been born in Buerton circa 1800, did steal from James Hall of Buerton on 1st December 1834 "One Horse collar Housing of the value of 1/-, one Sieve of the value of 1/-, and one Bag of the value of 1/-."

William was convicted of the offence at Chester Court on 5th January 1835, his sentence being 14 years Transportation to Australia. I have checked Chester Advertiser Newspaper (16th January 1835), but there is only the sentence recorded.

I thought that perhaps someone with local knowledge of Audlem/Buerton history may be able to help. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
