Horse riders can help cut crime

Audlem horse riders can help cut crime by joining the Rural Watch initiative.

Cheshire Police want riders to sign up to the scheme and act as eyes and ears for its rural community policing teams

They say that riders who exercise their horses regularly can pass on information on any unusual events to local officers.

A spokesman said: "You could be reducing crime, improving the quality of life for residents, encouraging your community to support each other and provide real reassurance to the most vulnerable members of your community. A small commitment of time from you could have a massive impact for your community."

Riders can help by getting to know local police officers or community support officers and passing information to them. They could also report anything suspicious on 101 or by calling crime stoppers on 0800 55 111.
