There are those of course who think that anything to do with HMRC, genuine or otherwise, should be regarded as a scam, but following our article yesterday about a council tax scam, an AudlemOnline reader has reported an attempted scam pretending to be from HMRC and warns others to beware.
Following the news report on council tax fraud – I had an email the other day purporting to be from the Inland Revenue telling me that my tax rebate of £150 is ready .
It goes on to request that I update my "profile".
This email starts off "Dear Citizen" and asks you to fill a form in giving your bank details.
Perhaps other readers should be warned of this as the tax office almost always send you a cheque by post.
