To avoid running out of medicines patients should now allow one week from requesting a repeat prescription to receiving it.
Boots Pharmacy in Audlem is experiencing continually increasing demand for issuing medication and is encouraging customers to sign up to their free Repeat Prescription Service so that their supplies are ordered on time and available when needed.
Each time the patient or their representative collects their repeat prescriptions, the pharmacy will ask which items are required for the following month/two months. They will mark this on the repeat slip, and send it to the surgery.
They will provide patients with a Reminder Card with the date on which the prescription will next be ready to collect. This is in addition to the current text message informing customers that their medication is ready.
For patients who order their own medication, Audlem Patient Participation Group is urging patients to request their prescriptions at least seven days before they run out. Repeat prescriptions have to be authorised at the Medical Practice each time they are requested, the pharmacy has to obtain the supplies and then prepare the medicines for collection.
Although most of this is now done electronically which is safer and more secure, the increase in demand has put pressure on the limited space and resources at the village pharmacy.
Patients can order their repeat prescriptions from Audlem Medical Practice either online

Or by taking the tear off portion of their previous prescription to the surgery
