Great music all Monday

Ian Haughey reports on Monday at the Audlem Festival: "We have had some great acts appearing over the years at Audlem Festival, and some great times in which to try and follow on the back of. Yesterday's round-up on the music front really added to that Festival heritage. Nick Lundie at the Coffee lounge started the morning off with a well received set to an appreciative audience.

"Carly B flew back from his Australian Pink Floyd gig in Israel to join John 'Gunners' Gunstone in Blues Alley and together as Cajo Funk produced a treasured moment of sax and keyboard. It was awesome!

"Newcomers to the festival, the Reads from Chester, played next at the Lord Combermere, and what a fantastic atmospheric set they produce – if only that sun had been out, wow! Pete Price at the Shroppie, what a great guitarist and entertainer Pete is, and really pleased to be part of the Audlem Festival. Terraplane Blues kicked in at the White Lion, the duo playing some classic blues music from the likes of Robert Johnson, Casey Bill Weldon and Muddy Waters.

"Then welcome back for the second time to Darren Poyzer and Fluff. An acclaimed songwriter and an inspired performer, Poyzer and Fluff produced a fantastic set. Fluff, only yesterday playing with Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake fame, played some virtuoso fiddle to Poyzers energetic and at times moving guitar work, don't forget the Instigator! Superb.

"There were also a few out busking, music and entertainment was everywhere on Carnival day. Hollow Floor ended the outdoor proceedings at the Combermere to a great audience braving the cooling temperatures – well it is summer!

"The Folk and Jim Jam sessions rounded the weekend off. It's been a good one to honour those of previous years, it's been varied, it's been loud, it's been intimate, it's certainly been one for all musical tastes!"
