Grand Prix winner at Transport Festival

The Car that won the Grand Prix features at the Audlem Festival of Transport.

This Sunday (29th July 2012) will see Audlem playing field adorned with over 300 vintage vehicles from motorbikes and cars to tractors and buses.

Amongst them, is expected to be the Lotus 18 which Stirling Moss famously beat the Ferraris in, winning the Monaco and German
Grand Prix in 1961. This is the same car driven by Stirling Moss himself just a few weeks ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.  

Racing car royalty does not stop there with a 1957 Maserati 250 S previously driven by Scaralatti and Fangio.  

Audlem's Festival of Transport has been run by ASET annually for over 12 years, with this year offering more of the rare and unusual than ever before. 

Over 100 of the vehicles registered are new to the Festival this year, keeping the event fresh and giving the opportunity for collectors from across the country to unveil their motoring treasures from the past 120 years. 

The oldest vehicles expected include a 1886 Singer Challenge Penny Farthing and a 1911 Delahaye Tourer, and amongst the rare and unusual; Aston Martins, Dennis Fire Engine and a London Taxi. 

Even the Festival's ice cream van provides a quirky and appealing addition to the event. Polly's Vintage Ice Cream Parlour is run from Florence, a converted Neapolitan painted VW campervan! 

Audlem Festival of Transport is free to attend and a great day out for all the family.

• 11:30am         Vehicles assemble in Hankelow


• 12:00-12:30     Parade from Hankelow to Audlem


• 16:30              Vehicles depart


• 17:00              Helicopter departs
