The 1st X1 suffered a chastening six wickets home defeat at the hands of Audley last Saturday. Audlem elected to bat first on a blustery hot day at The Gorse Croft and were soon in trouble with the early batsmen struggling to push on from a comfortable start of 43 for the loss of just one wicket to the perilous position of 57 for 7. A stand on 40 for the eighth wicket between Kamal Toraman and Will Hamman gave some respectability to the final score of 109 all out in the 29th over.
It was never going to be enough and so it proved with the visitors making short work of the run chase despite the bowlers best efforts. Audley lost 4 wickets in the reply as they crossed the line in only the 23rd over.
Next Saturday Audlem travel to Bagnall which brings up the halfway point of the season and find themselves sitting in a comfortable mid table position in the league table which is an excellent achievement after four successive promotion seasons in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League.
The Saturday 2nd X1 had no game as their division consists of only 10 teams so are afforded a mid season break.
The Sunday X1 welcomed old friends, Lichfield Nomads to The Gorse Croft and came out with an emphatic 8 wicket victory after losing the toss and being invited to bowl first. Audlem gained a stranglehold on the game with all the eight bowlers on display claiming at least one wicket with last week's man of the match Billy Baker having two victims including bowling Litchfield's top batsman, C.Parsonage for 48.
Lichfield were all out for 169 in the 38th over of the innings. The total proved no problem for Audlem's batting line-up as Tom Measures, Marcus Taylor, Jake Topping, Irfan Shaik and Ryan Anderton all made valuable contributions in the reply to bring up the victory in the 28th over.
Next Sunday Audlem play hosts to Liverpool Barristers with the game scheduled for a 12.30pm start.
